Hi Andrea! Tell us a little about yourself…

My full name is Andrea (Simone) Ramdeen and I’m a full time buyer and part time blogger at www.styledbysimone.com and @AndreabySimone. I guess working in creative fields stimulates wanting to do more creative things outside of work. I attended Hofstra University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and Fine Arts. I still speak there sometimes regarding my blog and inspiring other students. It’s one of the more rewarding things. I love spending time with my family and friends and I especially love taking trips! It doesn’t matter where it is, New cities are always fun to explore.

What spoke to you about the Meghan Hughes garments you chose to wear?

Meghan Hughes had a few different collections, the retro feels are what made the pieces pop when I was browsing through. I’d say that even though her clothes are retro they have a modern feel that translate well when I wear them.

What do you do?

I’m a full time buyer for a small company, and a part time fashion blogger. I work in the world of decor, but eventually I want fashion to be the only field I’m working in. Besides blogging, art is a passion of mine. I love sketching and doodling to find new ideas!

When did you develop a love of fashion?

I think I developed a love for fashion on March 27, 2004. It was my 11th birthday and my uncle who at the time worked for Tristan + America in Manhattan, had just given me my first Coach bag. I don’t think he realized the door he opened for me. Before that I didn’t even know what a designer handbag was, and, now that I’m a  fashion blogger, he is a true supporter of mine.

In one word, how would you describe your style?

I would say my style is “Chic.” It’s a cross between fashion forward and elegant. Nothing I wear is too risky. I sometimes find myself wearing something from a past time because trends are always repeating.

How do you incorporate your own personal style with what you do?

Incorporating my own personal style in what I do is the best part of fashion blogging. I guess I’m at the point where I’m dressing to impress on the daily. I decide how I want to be styled depending on what kind of event I’m going to or what kind of work day I’m having. Fine jewelry is a statement I’ve had going for a while now. It doesn’t matter if I’m wearing a bathing suit or a chunky sweater, I have a few statement pieces of jewelry that I consistently wear.

Describe your morning routine. At 9 am each day, you are….

At 9 am I’m sitting in traffic!!! I’m still a beginner in the fashion blogging world, so unlike most I have a full time job. Once in a blue moon I wake up a bit earlier to work on my blog but generally speaking I wake up around 7:30, and get ready for work. I skip breakfast, which I know if terrible for you, but I’ve never been a breakfast person.

Describe your evenings.

Once I get home, which is after 6 pm, I normally eat dinner, and then watch Jeopardy. I’ve been watching this show for as long as I can remember, but once that’s over I switch to blog mode for the next hour or so. I write a new entry if needed then I post on my Instagram accordingly. I also use this time to edit pictures or complete anything else that needs to be done. If it’s not a blogging night, I sometimes go out to dinner. In the month of December, you can find me watching Christmas movies for 25 days!

What’s your most regrettable purchase?

My biggest regrettable purchase are the bell bottoms I thought I could rock! While watching that 70’s show I thought if Jackie could wear them and be a tiny human so could I. Well, I was wrong. Bell bottoms just weren’t made for me but I wish I knew that before I went out and bought the most expensive pair I could find!!

On Sunday, we’ll find you wearing:

Sunday is a tough one. Sometimes I wake up early to create some blog content, which means I’m all dolled up, but other times I’m wearing sweats or a lounge outfit. I like to be comfortable when I can be and for as long as I can be.

What is your go-to power outfit?

My go to power outfit is without a doubt my travel outfits! When traveling it’s hard to stay put-together through all the moving around so I copy my own outfits each time I go somewhere. I wear a mini skirt with a sweater and booties! Planes and cars get hot so I figure if I have a skirt on I’ll stay a little cooler. I also carry a scarf to wrap myself in if it starts to get chilly!

What’s the one garment you’ll never give away?

One garment I’ll never give away is a leather jacket I got in 2011! It’s ancient but it held its form and it’s a one of a kind. I got this jacket for Christmas from my dad. It’s a grey leather jacket with grey silk lining. I have yet to find a jacket that fits better than this one!

What trend do you hope never goes out of style?

Suede booties with a medium heel! My love for these shoes is unreal. They go with everything and it’s easy to walk in them! I’m all for stylish shoes, but walking comfortably is sometimes more important.

What does fashion mean to you?

Fashion to me is art. It’s a mix of creating something new everyday through your outfit. It’s mixing and matching and putting together pieces that show off your sense of style and personality.

What excites you about Nineteenth Amendment?

Nineteenth Amendment is a rarity, and when I met some designers at Fashion Week and had the opportunity to try on some of their things I felt the warm welcome. I’ve since worked with a few designers from Nineteenth Amendment and the variety of pieces the Nineteenth Amendment platform offers is what makes it unique. I think I could find something from Nineteenth Amendment for every occasion. Casual, professional or fancy, they would have an outfit to suit!
