Tell us a little bit about yourself. What do you do?
I consider myself to be fashion designer and style blogger, as I work full-time under my Lexicon Of Style brand. Currently, I design digitally printed silk scarves that are available for purchase on my website. Silk scarves are the first pieces I chose to create because they have always been my favorite accessories ever since I was young. Each is inspired by travel and different cultures around the world.
What does fashion mean to you?
Fashion and style is supposed to be fun. I think people take it too seriously. Yes, to a certain extent it is serious art but it’s meant to be enjoyed. There are no rules when it comes to fashion. Just stay true to yourself – that is what I try to communicate through my blog.
When did you develop a love of fashion?
I was born with a love for fashion. Since day one my dream was to create beautiful clothing and to inspire women to dress creatively.
How would you describe your style?
I like to think of my style as colorful yet edgy, vintage, and creative.
What trend do you hope never goes out of style?
Your biggest fashion faux pas, or a regrettable purchase / style phase:
Hmm… maybe back when I was in middle school. The layering of Lacoste shirts is probably my biggest regret.
What is your go-to power outfit?
High waisted pants, turtle neck top, and a blazer with a neck scarf.
Describe your evenings
My evenings are usually spent in front of my computer. I am always emailing, designing, blogging, and taking care of business. Sometimes there are a few days out of the week when I go to events and parties around the city.
How do you incorporate your own personal style with what you do?
I started Lexicon of Style Scarves as my outlet for combining three of my passions: designing, styling, and blogging. Not only does my blog allow me to document the best ways to wear and style my scarves, but I also use it to showcase how easy it is to be creative with your fashion!
What excites you about Nineteenth Amendment?
Everything Nineteenth Amendment stands for! I love the support for emerging designers. There are so many designers’ stories I haven’t gotten to discover. I am so excited to be introduced to so many creative artists!
What spoke to you about the garment you chose to wear?
Well weirdly enough, I had a dream about a shirt that had bugs on it the night before going to choose my looks! So when I saw this Paulo Succar Beetle Print Shirt I thought it was fate! I have to wear it! I love the neutral pallet of the print and how different it is. I gravitate to fitted skater silhouettes and neoprene materials. They’re super comfortable and flattering. It’s important to have a go-to LBD and this AgainstAllOdds Scuba Dress in particular spoke to me because you can layer it or wear it alone! This Kevin Shahroozi Neoprene Leather Jacket is stook out because it can also transform to a vest. Between the three pieces, there are so many ways to wear it, the more ways you can get the better!
For our first collection with Nineteenth Amendment, we made some edits to specially curated pieces from our F/W ’15 RTW collection. Look for sports-wear inspired style lines, interesting silhouettes, and unusual fabrics. These pieces are meant to go day-to-night, work-to-play, and – most importantly (especially for us Chicagoans) – Fall/Winter-to-Spring/Summer.
ABOUT PAULO SUCCAR, BEETLES
Paulo Succar is menswear for the contemporary, cultured man who’s not afraid to stand out and display his elegant taste and genuine style.
ABOUT KEVIN SHAHROOZI, LIFE IN THE CITY
What inspires me in this line is life in the city and the city itself. From the young professionals always on the go trying to make their mark, to the tall buildings, to the concrete floor. The city man who works hard and plays hard. He goes from work to the high end lounges or clubs at night.
Nineteenth + Seventh is a monthly feature bringing cutting-edge fashions from our global designers to your favorite tastemakers. Our goal? To help tell their stories through our designers’ clothing. We believe that fashion is at its best when many voices–from independent designers to bloggers, stylists, and connoisseurs–make themselves heard. Interested in sharing your fashion story?
