Last week, designers, brands, suppliers, and startups gathered in downtown LA for the inaugural REMODE conference – the premier global fashion event promoting sustainability and disruption in fashion. The goal of REMODE was to support growth and sustainability for the fashion industry by bringing together established and up-and-coming fashion brand decision makers and innovators from across the entire value chain to share ideas, find practical solutions and forge new connections.
Day one, Nineteenth Amendment COO Gemma Sole spoke about on-demand manufacturing along with robotics-enabled on-demand brands Keen, Thursday’s Finest, and Unspun. While these unique brands are supported by specialty vertically-integrated machines for knit and assembly of one-offs, Gemma spoke about the importance of leveraging the network of skilled makers already available in the US to help jumpstart cut-and-sew brands of tomorrow. The conversation also highlighted Nineteenth Amendment retailer partnerships which helped participating brands batch orders and launch into the industry.
Later that evening – in front of guests from H&M Foundation, Eileen Fischer, All Birds, Everlane, Reformation, and more – Nineteenth Amendment was named winner of the Best Sustainable Manufacturing Solution of the Year for the Nineteenth Amendment Smart PLM!
