Nina Garcia has joined Nineteenth Amendment as our newest advisor, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge supporting emerging fashion designers.
Best known for her role as a judge on Project Runway, Nina has been a part of the fabric of US fashion (pun intended) for years. A BU Terrier (just like our CEO), Garcia graduated – furthering her education at FIT – and began her career in the fashion industry in the public relations department for Perry Ellis and its then-designer, Marc Jacobs. Nina went to work at Mirabelle and Elle, becoming Fashion Director at Elle in 2000. In 2008, she began her new position as Fashion Director of Marie Claire where she oversaw the fashion coverage for the magazine and ran the fashion department until being promoted to Creative Director in 2013.*
A fashion authority in every sense of the word, Nina brings a wealth of knowledge of the editorial world and what it takes to stand out as an emerging designer. Nineteenth Amendment’s cohort of fashion designers will get amazing exposure and insight from Nina and her team. “We are thrilled to have Nina Garcia join Nineteenth Amendment as an advisor. She has a wealth of industry knowledge that will benefit both our business and our designers. We are very excited to have Nina onboard as we continue to make unique, USA made, independent designer fashion accessible,” noted cofounders Amanda Curtis and Gemma Sole.
